Driving at the age of 17

Driving at the age of 17 will take effect in 2021

Starting in 2021, a new regulation will extend the period of driving practice to 12 months for those who plan on applying for their learner's permit before the age of 20. The extension of the training period aims at reducing the risk of accidents due to the increased number of accompanied drives the learning driver will have benefitted from at the time of passing the practical driving exam. As the minimum age requirement for passing the driver's exam cannot be raised, the new regulation allows for practical training to begin at the age of 17. Additionally, a lot of vocational education requires the possession of  a driving permit at the age of 18. For those who apply for the learner's permit after the age of 20, the current regulations will continue to apply.

I wish you all a safe journey!
